Man injured in Thane after tree falls on him as he walks home

A 45-year-old man suffered minor injuries after a tree fell in Thane city’s Panchpakhadi locality, making it the second tree collapse in the locality in 10 days.

The incident took place near Gurukul society around 1am Thursday, when the victim, Avinash Jogale, a resident of Panchpakhadi, was walking home.

The tree also damaged an auto and a bike.

“The fire brigade and Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) team reached the spot. The victim suffered minor injuries on the leg and was taken to nearby hospital immediately. They also cleared the tree from the road,” said Santosh Kadam, in charge of Thane RDMC.

On July 16, Prashant Dhabale, 26, an engineer, suffered minor injuries after a tree fell on him while he was passing through Panchpakhadi on his bike. Last year, Thane resident Kishore Pawar, 38, died after a huge tree fell and hit him on the neck.
