Leader of the Congress in Legislative Council, Deepak Singh on Wednesday alerted the state government to take necessary steps to avert causality due to Japanese Encephelitis (JE) in the 'deadly month of August'.

"The month of August is a week away. Hence, Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath and his cabinet colleagues especially, Health minister Siddharthnath Singh should ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen or any laxity on part of doctors of Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur that might cause large number of deaths this year too,” said Singh.

Lallu Singh was taking a dig on the state government stand last year in which Health minister Siddharthnath Singh had said that high number of deaths due to JE usually took place in August and there was nothing to panic.

The Congress leader said that the state government has not initiated any step so far as they were least bothered above the lives of innocent children who die every year due to negligence and callousness of state agencies. Interestingly, Singh also urged the state government to check whether any payment of oxygen supplier was pending as it could cost innocent lives in case the agency stopped oxygen supply to BRD Hospital.

Last year, over 60 children died in BRD hospital in Gorakhpur due to stoppage of supply of oxygen. The Health minister had then playeed down the blunder claimingthatAugust accounted for maximum deaths due to JE.

Meanwhile, aiming to impart skills to aspirants of Armed forces and police, Amethi district unit of Congress was mulling to set up a training centre in the Parliamentary constituency of party chief Rahul Gandhi.

Amethi district Congress chief Yogendra Mishra said that the proposed training centre would help youth of Amethi and Rae Bareli.

"The training centre will impart skills to aspirants of Armed forces, para-military forces and police. Training will be imparted free of cost. The proposed centre may come up between Amethi and Rae Bareli and help youngsters, especially girls, from both districts," Mishra said.

"Search for a building for the training centre is underway. Ourparty chief is of the view that if trained individuals go for recruitment, their chances of clearing the examination will be comparatively high," Mishra said.
