NEW DELHI: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said that they do fear to hug the Congress chief as their wives might divorce them after hugging him.
The BJP MP was responding to the Congress president's remark where he had said that BJP MPs take two steps back thinking I'll hug them.
"Yes, we do fear to hug
Rahul Gandhi as our wives might divorce us after that. Also, Section 377 hasn't been scrapped as yet. If he gets married, we will hug him," Dubey said.
The All India Mahila Congress slammed the BJP MP for his "bigoted" and "creepy" comment.
"Bigotry creeps into every aspect of BJP dialogue. The leader in case here is lowering the dignity of his Party and self with such narrow minded sarcasm which not only targets INC President but LGBTQ community too," it said in a tweet.
Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi had said that whenever he comes across BJP MPs, they take two steps back thinking I will hug them.
"It is very interesting how this works, because now whenever I come across BJP MPs, they take two steps back... we have to be careful he is going to hug us," Gandhi said amid peals of laughter.
Rahul Gandhi's comment came following severe criticism by the BJP leaders for hugging PM
Narendra Modi during his speech on the no-confidence motion against the government last week.
The Congress chief further said that he can hug Advani and also fight him.
On Friday last week, the Congress chief had left everyone stunned when he walked across the Well of the House to give a hug to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
