Election Analysis

Guna: This district has been influenced by Scindhia’s family and Digvijay Singh. At this area, anyone who had fight the election connected with these families has won regardless the party has been. For example, Rajmata Vijayraje Scindhia from BJP had been representing Guna and Scindhia has been wining on Congress ticket.
Similarly, from Radhogarh family, Digvijay Singh and his son have always been winning the election from Congress whereas apart from Congress Digvijay Singh’s Brother Laxman Singh, had been elected from Rajgarh parliamentary area.
This district has four assembly seats that are Guna, Bamori, Chachoda and Radhogarh. Out of that Guna is reserved for schedule castes. Out of that Radhogarh and Bamori are occupied by Congress and Guna and Chachoda are occupied by BJP.
Scindhia has always been choosing the party candidate of his choice from Guna and Bamori seats whereas Digvijay Singh believes that Radhogarh and Chachoda are his own seats although Bamori and Chachoda are the seats of upside down.
On the other side, there is no such acceptable leader in BJP who can be called as stalwart of whole district. Party organization is handling this district in the style of collective leadership and this is BJPs’ strength and weakness too.
In the elections of 2008 in Guna, Uma Bharti’s party Bhartiya Janshakti’s candidate Rajendra Singh Saluja had defeated Congress candidate and in the previous elections BJP’s Panna Lal Shakya had won with big margin of 45000 votes. Now Shakya believes that his ticket is confirmed and nobody can challenge him from his party whereas from the neighboring district’s head quarter BJP’s legislator is Gopilal Jatav is also spotting on this seat.
The other claimants are Rajput, Jagdish Khatik etc. From Congress, Chandra Prakash Ahirwar, Neeraj Nigam and Om Prakash Narwaria are some prominent claimants. From district’s another important seat, Congress’s Mahendra Singh Sisodia had defeated BJP’s candidate and took avenge in two ways. Sisodia had been defeated by BJP’s candidate Kanhaiya Lal in 2008 elections with the margin of 4700 votes. But in 2013 elections he defeated the same Kanhaiya Lal with the margin of more than 18000 votes.
Now legislator Sisodia is full confident that party will again rely on his this time also. But former District Panchayat Vice Chairman Devendre Kirar and Congress’s district president Vitthaldas Mina are also claiming.
On the other hand in BJP, Guna municipal chairman Rajendra Singh Saluja has claimed for the ticket who had been elected as a legislator in 2008 elections and trapped in disputes concerning his caste. Saluja is claiming ticket on the basis of his municipal workings. Other claimants are ON Sharma, Mahendra Kirar, former minister of state KL Agarwal etc are included.
From Radhogarh, sitting legislator and Digvijay Singh’s son’s ticket is confirmed. As usual, BJP can again send a shocking candidate from here although the names on which discussion is going on are Radheshyam Dhakad, Bhupendre Raghuvanshi and Gopal Patwa.
At Chachoda seat, BJP’s Mamta Meena had won previous elections by defeating Congress’s candidate and former minister of state Shiv Narayan Meena with more than 45000 votes and before this election he had been defeated by Shiv Narayan Meena. Now this time from Congress, Shiv Narayan Meena can ask for the ticket. Discussions on the name of Former MP Laxman Singh are also going on. From BJP, nobody have any doubt on Mamta Meena’s name.
