Mughal era coins, jewellery dug out from fields

The villagers of the Keradari block of Hazaribagh found Muhgal period coins and jewellery in their field recently. They were kept in a pot beneath the soil and names were mentioned on the coins in Arabic language.

The villagers of Bariyatu village of Keradari block of Hazaribagh were doing the work near the Sotiya Nala of the village. Villagers Md. Kuddus, Md. Sahzad, Tanver and Harun Rashid incidentally found a pot in the fields and to their utter surprise  45 silver coins and silver jewelries came out from that .

Experts said that the language inscribed on the coins was used in the Mughal period. They explained that in Arabic language Sahajanha Adil Badshaha, Al Azad Abul Muzaffer Sahabuddin Md. Khurram’s name was written.

 The villagers informed about it to Keradari police on Saturday morning. The police reached there and took the coins and jewelries in the custody.

The Head of the Department of Urdu of St. Columba’s college Dr. Jamal Ahmad and Arbic expert of the same department Sarwar Ali said that the Arabic language was used on the both side of coins. They told that the Sahajahan period was from 1628 to 1657, so the recovered coins are related to 16th century.

The same type of coins was found by the Chadi Sao in 1998 and Shyamlal Sao in 2003 of the same village, when they were cultivating the land.
