KOCHI: It is not permissible to have any organisation inside the campus and the students have to understand that politics is not advisable in the campus, said Governor P Sathasivam.

Governor was speaking to the media after interacting with the state university vice -chancellors on Monday. Making it clear that it is his personal opinion and he as the head of the state, he doesn't want to make any comment that would influence the investigation, he said, "Students need to first complete their studies and think of their future".

"During my days in college, no political activism or groupism was there. I am not saying that one shouldn't lean towards a political party. But first they need to finish their course," he said.

In his address to the vice-chancellors, the Governor had mentioned that campus politics it is not appreciable. The Governor has asked the vice-chancellors to convene a meeting of college principals to discuss the issue of campus politics.

Whether campus politics should be allowed has been the hot topic of discussion since second year BSc (Chemistry) student Abhimanyu M's murder in the Maharaja's College campus. The murder highlighted the changing face of campus politics in Kerala.

Abhimanyu, a member of the Students' Federation of India, was stabbed to death by assailants allegedly affiliated to the Popular Front of India (PFI). The state government recently confirmed the involvement of fundamentalists in the murder of Abhimanyu at the Kerala High Court and said one of the accused in palm-chopping case played a key role in conspiracy in his murder.
