HYDERABAD: In a bizarre case, while a doctor from Tarnaka came out on Tuesday alleging that he was illegally detained by Osmania University Police on Monday night, the latter claimed that three arrest warrants were pending against him. Dr KS Murthy, a Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon, was taken to the police station for a cheque bounce case. However, on Tuesday, his advocate claimed the warrant was recalled, but police were still harassing his client, Dr Murthy.
Denying the allegations as baseless, police claimed warrants were indeed pending against Murthy. He was produced before the court on Tuesday where he was granted bail, police claimed.
G Jagan, Inspector, OU police station said that someone with a malafide intention is spreading the rumours. “There were three warrants pending against him and to execute them, we summoned him and produced him before the court. The court granted him bail and released him,” he said.
Advocate M Shiva Kumar claimed that there was a case against KS Murthy for cheque bounce charges in 2015. The case was compromised with the opposite party in 2016 and the party had also given a consent letter withdrawing the case.
However, the warrant was pending and not acted upon all these years. On Friday, the warrant was recalled before the court. As the order copy was not ready, they communicated the same to the OU police. However they kept quiet till Monday and started troubling his client, he alleged.
