Riding without helmet, 21-year-old student killed in mishap

LUCKNOW: Riding a bike without helmet proved fatal for an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) student in Gudamba on Tuesday. He was killed when a speeding tractor trolley hit his bike from behind.
The deceased, identified as Vipin Kumar Yadav (18) of Dewa, Barabanki, was returning home via Munshipulia, Picnic Spot and Faridinagar on his bike. When he reached a culvert about a kilometre away before Scorpio Club around 11am, a speeding tractor trolley hit his bike from behind.

Yadav was tossed up in air due to the impact. He suffered head injuries when he fell down and started bleeding profusely. Local residents and commuters rushed him to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Some commuters chased the driver but he fled abandoning the tractor trolley on the road.

Police seized the vehicle and registered a case against the driver. Efforts are on to trace him.

Police spokesperson A K Singh said, “Yadav’s life could have been saved if he had been wearing a helmet.”

The victim’s body has been sent for postmortem examination and his family has been informed.
