Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu on Tuesday said bringing petrol and diesel under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST) is not a major issue and the GST council would take the decision in this regard at an appropriate time.

“The BJP Government has been working consistently and in a fast mode to fulfil its promises of election manifesto. In 2019 election, the party will go to the people on the basis of these fulfilled promises,” said the Minister while talking to the mediapersons here.

Regarding frequent changes in the GST slabs, he said that 28 meetings of GST council had so far been held to make this system better and changes had been made as per the suggestions received from the people.

Lashing out at the Opposition, he said the Opposition parties - the INLD and the Congress - had long been doing politics on the issue of the SYL and even today these parties are doing the same. Both the parties ruled Haryana from 2000 to 2014, but failed to bring water in this canal.

After the formation of the BJP Government in 2014, concerted efforts were taken, as a result of which the Supreme Court gave verdict in favour of Haryana. The opposition parties should refrain from politicising this issue anymore, he added.

On being asked about contesting next elections for Vidhan Sabha or Lok Sabha, the Finance Minister said, “He is a soldier of BJP and the decision regarding fixing responsibility of a solider lies with high command. Whatever responsibility will be assigned to him, he will play his role to further strengthen the party.”
