Last year, Kelsey Grammer told TV Guide that there had been "some talk, but it's nothing but talk" of a Frasier reboot, and that it was unlikely since "There are so many people that would be lined up to get their cut that even trying to finance a reboot of Frasier would be nightmarish," but that he would still love to do it if they could figure it out.

Well, it sounds like Grammer and the show's other producers are starting to figure it out, because Deadline reports that he and CBS Television Studios are exploring a reboot of the long-running sitcom. Producers are meeting with writers to work out a vision for a revival, and if they settle on something, it could move to the next stage. It's apparently being conceived of as a reboot that would find Frasier Crane (Grammer) in a new city with new people around him. (John Mahoney, who played Frasier's father Martin, died earlier this year.)

Grammer told TV Guide that he has often thought about where Frasier Crane would be now, and figured he would be in another new place after things didn't work out with Charlotte (Laura Linney) after he moved to Chicago to be with her. It would be far from the first time viewers followed Frasier to a new city; he began in Boston on Cheers in 1984 before moving back to his hometown of Seattle for his titular spin-off in 1993.

Frasier aired on NBC for 11 seasons until 2004, and won 37 Emmys overall (a record until Game of Thrones won its 38th in 2016), including Outstanding Comedy Series five years in a row from 1994 to 1998, but it was produced by CBS Television Studios.

Grammer will next be seen on the upcoming Fox legal drama Proven Innocent.

Frasier is available to stream on Hulu.
