Tourism Minister John Amaratunga said that from September to November the first campaign will be held with a keen focus on special tour packages.

He further mentioned that the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau had called for bids from advertising agencies for running the international campaign in the digital, social and print media. This will be carried for three months.

The tourism promotions office was negotiating with airlines, hotels and travel agencies to create suitable deals to attract the visitors.

If the campaign runs successfully, there will be a similar campaign  occurring from March to July.

There has been a recorded growth of 15.3 percent in the first half of 2018 as compared to the same period last year as per the data from the Tourism Ministry.
