Turmeric prices showed a mixed trend in spot and futures trade. While spot prices of the spice increased due to limited arrivals and the ongoing truckers’ stir, prices on the futures market were off 0.89 per cent to ₹7,308 a quintal as traders resorted to profit booking. Besides, a fall in demand at the spot markets against adequate supplies too triggered the decline. Finger turmeric prices were up by ₹1,500 a quintal at the Regulated Marketing Committee and the root variety decreased by ₹250. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, prices of both varieties gained ₹100. Of the arrival of 1,900 bags, 45 per cent of stocks were sold.
