Regina Martyrum thrash Fatima Convent 6-1

Fatorda: Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna easily defeated Fatima Convent High School, Margao scoring 6-1 to enter the semifinals of Subroto Mukherjee Cup for girls U-17 (Salcete zone) played at Nehru stadium, Fatorda on Wednesday.

Star striker Razia Pereira scored a brace for Regina Martyrum HS, finding the mark in the 10th and 40th minute, while Ianira Fernandes (1st minute), Daisy Crasto (7th minute), Clency Miranda(15th minute) and Suveda Kakate (19th minute) scored a goal each for the team. Fatima Convent pulled a goal back through Jenell Almeida in the 30th minute of the second session.

Regina Martyrum began to attack right from the start and were up by five goals to nill in the first session.

They were better than their rivals in all the departments of the game, spreading the ball well and scoring at will in the first session. They slowed down the game in the second half allowing Fatima Convent to create some probing moves with substititute Jenell Almeida pulling a goal back.

In the other match of the day, Our Lady of Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim defeated  Manovikas English High School, Margao 5-0.

Chelsea Crasto scored a hattrick for Rosary Higher Secondary School, while the other goals were scored by Tercy Pinto and Cia Almeida.

In another match Rosary High School, Navelim thrashed Infant Jesus High School, Colva 7-0. Jolinda Ferrao, Rosary High School’s central midfielder scored a hat-trick, while Diviya Chawanke scored a brace. Sirin Totad and Diksha Ahirwar scored a goal each for the team.

In the last match of the day, Our Lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim defeated Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna 4-0. Lakkeisha Fernandes scored a brace for the winners, while the other two goals were scored by Melvira Fernandes and Criffa Pereira.

All these winning teams – Regina Martyrum High School,Assolna, Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim, Rosary High School, Navelim and Our Lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim have now entered the semifinals which will be played today.

Almeida HS Ponda are champions

PONDA: Almeida High School, Ponda defeated KRSS High school, Savoi-Verem on tie-breaker to win Ponda Taluka U-14 boys Subroto Cup football Tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Ponda Sports complex ground.

The match finished goalless in the regulation time. During the tie breaker Almeida High school won 4-2. Nygel, Maverick, Shovan and Saideep scored for the winning side.

St Michael’s Convent enter Bardez final

MAPUSA: St  Michael’s Convent Vagator defeated St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa 3-2 to crash into the final of the Bardez Taluka U-17 Subroto Mukherjee (girls) football tournament organised by the DSYA held at GFA Duler ground.

The match ended in a goalless draw. In the tie breaker, Siddhi Shirodkar, Kaveri Chauhan and Pearl Carvalho were on target for Vagator school while for St Xavier’s converted only Esther Vales and Jeolla Dsouza.

The final is scheduled on July 27 between St Xavier’s High School, Moira and St Michael’s Convent Vagator, at same venue.
