GHAZIABAD: A special investigation team (
SIT) was constituted by police on Tuesday to
probe collapse of an under-construction building near Dasna flyover on July 22 that claimed two lives and injured nine others.
The directions to constitute an SIT was issued by SSP Vaibhav Krishna late on Tuesday.
The SIT comprising seven policemen– two inspectors, two sub-inspectors and three constables – will be headed by SP (rural) Arvind Maurya. The team will exclusively probe two criminal cases that have so far been registered at Masuri police station.
The first case, which pertains to culpable homicide for the death of two persons who were trapped in the building’s rubble, was registered on July 22. This case had been registered on a complaint lodged by GDA through its assistant engineer Ajit Kumar. Dinesh Kumar, the purported land owner of the plot, over which the five-storey illegal under-construction building stood, was named as accused in FIR along with the two builders—Krishanpal Tomar and Mukesh Singh—apart from an unknown person. They have been booked under half-a-dozen other criminal offences too.
