Editor Appu N. Bhattathiri loves to unwind at his home more than anywhere else

“My home.” State award-winning editor Appu N. Bhattathiri doesn’t have to think twice when you ask him about his favourite space in the city. It is a two-in-one scenario because the house at Forest Office Lane, Vazhuthacaud, is his creative space as well.

While his father, veteran calligrapher Artist Bhattathiri, has his office on the first floor, Appu works on the ground floor. “I just love being here. My home is my office as well. I am most happy in this environment. I just need my computer and iPad to unwind. It is a comfort zone probably because my parents are always around. We interact less, but I think their presence has a positive effect on me. Also, there is clarity about everything, especially about where things are placed. So this is a space I am used to and that familiarity makes it my favourite place,” he explains.

If he is given another option, it would be a cinema. And he has two choices. “I prefer the ambience at AriesPlex, especially Audi I. And then there is SPI: Kripa cinemas. It has a terrific mood. You get good food as well!” he smiles.

Friends mean the world to this youngster and a place where they often get together is Ambrosia near Kowdiar Junction. Appu clarifies that more than the place what enthuses him is catching up with his friends. “We often meet on weekends. When we are together, we have a great time,” he says.

Or he heads to Edaneram, a food joint at Bakery Junction. “It is a no-frills place but I like spending time there. It is nice to catch up with my friends over a cup of tea. An attraction is that it is close to my house,” he says.
