Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was called on by the delegation of SOPA and Industries at the state hangar today. The delegation expressed gratitude towards Chouhan for initiating efforts to encourage soybean export.
It was informed by the delegation that on the efforts of the Chief Minister, the Union Government has taken an action in the record time to increase incentive from 7 percent to 10 percent on soya meal export.
This has generated a new enthusiasm in the soybean industry and has triggered scope of export. Members of the delegation also invited the Chief Minister to attend Soya Meal and Soybean Exporters and Importers’ Conclave to be held at Indore.
CM Chouhan has assured the delegation that every possible effort will be made to export soybean to enable farmers to get better price for their crop. They also discussed about the obstacles in connection to soybean export and export promotion efforts.
Chouhan has informed that high level efforts have been made to increase scope of soybean export to China. He also mentioned about the discussions held with the Prime Minister, Union Minister for Commerce and Union Minister for External Affairs.
He mentioned that he will again discuss with the Prime Minister on various issues related to encouragement to soybean export.
He will urge the Union Minister for Railways to make the rack available to the state for exporting soybean to Bangladesh. Moreover, by holding discussions with the Union Commerce Minister, he will make efforts to include delegation of Madhya Pradesh with delegations of the Union Government to be sent to China, Japan and European Union.
Minister from the State Government will also be sent as a representative of the State Government with delegation. Furthermore, Chouhan stated that he will request the Union Minister for External Affairs to direct Indian Embassy in China for providing full cooperation to soybean exporters of the state.
The delegation informed about the scope of soybean and soya meal export and said that 1260 lakh M.T. soybean is exported in the world. Out of this about 94 percent i.e. 950 lakh M.T. by China, 172 lakh M.T. by European Union and 60 lakh M.T. by Japan is imported.
Moreover, the delegation has urged the State Government to make efforts to increase 10 percent import duty on soybean oil and to abolish non tariff barriers restriction imposed by the China on soybean import from India.
Chief Secretary B.P. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary P.C. Meena, Principal Secretary Agriculture Rajesh Rajora, Principal Secretary Commerce and Industry Mohammad Suleman, Principal Secretaries to CM Ashok Varnval, S.K. Mishra and Vivek Agrawal were present on the occasion. The delegation of SOPA and Industries included Davish Jain, Basu T. Badwala, Girish Matlani and D.N. Pathak.
