2020 Toyota Land Cruiser To Have Land Rover Flair? Japanese Render Thinks So

Toyota is being pretty secretive in regards to their next-gen Land Cruiser (the 200, not the smaller Prado), as we know very little about what’s coming next. What we can tell you is that the current model has been around for over a decade and replacing it with a brand new generation would be a good idea.

The images you see here have been leaked via @hamad1two3’s Instagram account, the same account which leaked an updated version of the Land Cruiser back in July of 2015. Unfortunately, this is a rendering, not the real thing.

The pics were taken from a Japanese magazine, showing a new design direction for the Toyota Land Cruiser. If the Japanese 4×4 looks like this, we’d be pretty impressed, seen as how it’s both rugged and elegant, two worlds that rarely came together as far as the older models were concerned.

It would also remain instantly recognizable as a Toyota. The headlights, however have a modern wrap-around design, perhaps a little bit similar to those on the 2018 Ford Expedition.

There’s also another image supposedly telling us about the SUV’s dimensions and powertrain, and the numbers look like this: 4,950 mm (194.8 in) in length, 1,980 mm (77.9 in) in width, 1,920 mm (75.6 in) in height and a wheelbase measuring 2,850 mm (112.2 in). It also mentions a 3.4-liter V6 petrol unit supposedly having 422 PS, paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

What we can actually anticipate regarding the next-gen Land Cruiser is that it should remain an extremely capable and reliable off-roader, while featuring Toyota’s latest active safety and connectivity systems. For example, it could boast the Avalon’s wireless Qi mobile charger, plus its standard safety system suite (Toyota Safety Sense P) with pre-collision, pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and automatic high beams.

In reality, we’re probably still a couple of years away from seeing a real brand new Land Cruiser.
