No smooth darshan for devotees in D’nal

Lack of experience and careless attitude of top police officials and shoddy arrangement prevented many devotees, senior citizens, patients, differently abled and mediapersons from witnessing the Suna Besha of Lords in Dhenkanal on Monday.

It appeared as if the police force was deployed only to keep a watch over the gold ornaments of the deities and the security and safety of the devotees and smooth darshan was of little importance.

The chariot of Lord Jagannath was unnecessarily widely barricaded making the path very narrow for passage of thousands of devotees.

Even though no one was allowed to climb the chariot of Lord Jagannath, but the small path and space left for the devotees to watch the Suna Besha from ground was too inadequate and led to rush. The barricade erected consumed a large space.

There was no special provision for ladies, senior citizens patients, differently abled and mediapersons. There was every possibility of pick pocketing and molestation of ladies and snatching of necklace. Goddess Subhadra chariot was not barricaded.

However, king KP Singh Deo, queen Savitri Devi, their son Aman Jyoti and daughter in-law performed Sandhya Alati at the chariots on guidance of the royal priest.
