KOCHI: The office-bearers of various film bodies in Malayalam on Tuesday issued a joint statement alleging there is a conspiracy behind the letter submitted by a Collective to the Chief Minister urging him to not include actor Mohanlal among the list of dignitaries for the State Film Awards presentation ceremony.
With actor Prakash Raj, whose name was included in the letter circulated by the Collective, making it clear he has not signed any letter against Mohanlal, a government-level inquiry should be conducted into the conspiracy behind the letter, they said.
The joint statement was issued by V C George, secretary of Kerala Film Chamber; M Ranjith, secretary of Kerala Film Producers Association; Ziyad Koker, president, Film Distributor’s Association; B Unnikrishnan, FEFKA secretary, and Idavela Babu, secretary, AMMA.
“Mohanlal is one of the strongest figures who sustain the Malayalam cinema industry. The entire Mollywood will join hands to oppose any move to sideline him,” according to the joint statement.
