THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
UDF and
LDF have called for dawn to dusk hartal in
Varkala municipality area on Thursday following an altercation among councillors of both parties during the
municipal council meeting here on Wednesday.
The council meeting was marred by tense scenes after the ruling
LDF council introduced a resolution to expel Prasad S , ward councillor who had earlier been expelled from Congress party following complaints of exhibitionism. The opposition countered the resolution alleging corruption by ruling council related to a construction at Papanasam which led to councillors shoving and pushing each other and indulging in altercation.
Varkala chairperson Bindu Haridas was admitted to Government hospital after she fainted during the tussle. Five other members were also taken to hospital. Varkala police have registered case against six UDF members based on a complaint filed by Bindu Haridas and case has also been filed against 3 ldf members based on a complaint filed by UDF
