Xiaomi's new Mijia smart AC can be used as a heater too

Xiaomi has launched a smart air conditioner under its Mijia brand at a price of RMB 2,199 in China which translates to around Rs 22,366 in India. Interestingly, the air conditioner comes with a 900W electric heater and can be used as heater during winters as well. The AC syncs with the Mi Home smartphone app through which users can set temperature, cooling period along with other settings.
The Xiaomi Mijia AC is powered by a 1.5HP DC inverter compressor and can cool a room of measuring between 16 and 21 square meters. In India, this translates to a capacity of 1.5 tonnage. The device can convert to a heater when required and can effectively heat a similarly sized room. The air conditioner comes with a six-year warranty. As part of its connected ecosystem, the company has launched its Mi electric toothbrush and Mi Robot Builder during the Mi A2 smartphone launch event in Spain.
In India, Xiaomi’s subsidiary Huami has recently introduced its Amazfit Bip and Stratos smartwatches. The Amazfit Bip is priced at Rs 5,499, while the Stratos comes at Rs 15,999. Both are Flipkart-exclusive devices. Having said that there is no official word as to whether Xiaomi will launch these devices in India.
This Amazfit Bip shows the time, heart-rate, number of steps and receives notifications for calls, messages, emails and more. Like Amazfit Bip, it can receive email and message notifications etc. The Stratos can track your walk and other sporting activities like running, swimming, football, cycling etc.
As far as smartphones are concerned, Samsung raced pass Xiaomi to reclaim the top spot in India in Q2 this year, according to a report by Counterpoint research. The report says that the smartphone market returned to its double-digit growth year-on-year by 18%. Based on the latest figures, Samsung achieved 29% market share in the country.
