A 45-year-old labour was crushed to death after he came under the lift while carrying out painting work.
The incident took place on Wednesday around 6.30 p.m. in the limits of Malleswaram police station. The deceased has been identified as Venkatesh, a resident of Srirampura.
The local police said that the deceased was carrying out painting work on the ground floor of Rajeshwari Apartments, on Malleswaram 4th Main Road. The police said that the building is a few years old.
A source in the police said, “When the deceased was at work, he did not notice the lift coming down. He was crushed and succumbed to injuries. It is not known whether someone pressed the lift button or it fell on the deceased due to some technical problem."
The police said that they are investigating whether the death happened due to negligence or other reasons.
