VIJAYAWADA: The three-day annual Shakambari Devi festival started on Wednesday at Kanaka Durga Temple. The Utsav will continue till July 27. The festival is held from Ashadha Shukla Paksha Trayodasi to Purnima.

During this festival, Goddess Kanaka Durga takes the form of Mother Shakambari and the presiding deity is decorated with vegetables and fruits and worshiped as Shakambari Devi.



On the occasion, the main premises of the temple as well as sanctum sanctorum would be decorated with vegetables and fruits.

Temple authorities will use 40 tones of vegetables to decorate the temple and the Goddess in three days.



The temple would be opened at 3am and closed at 10pm during the festival. About 3 lakh devotees are expected to visit the temple during the three-day festival.
