Ladies’ hostel watchman held for molesting techie

A 34-year-old watchman of a private ladies hostel has been arrested after he molested a software engineer sleeping in her room on Sunday night.

CHENNAI: A 34-year-old watchman of a private ladies hostel as been arrested after he molested a software engineer sleeping in her room on Sunday night. The 24-year-old victim working in a software company moved to the city a year ago for work. “On Sunday, she was sleeping alone in her room on the second floor and left the doors open due to the hot temperature,” said a senior police officer. In the middle of the night, the victim woke up to a man trying to gag and molest her. “However, she overpowered him and raised an alarm. Immediately, the man escaped,” added the police officer. 

After the victim filed a complaint on Monday, the police arrested the accused identified as Subash from Tiruvannamalai, who was working as a watchman in the hostel the girl was staying in. Investigation revealed that the man had gained an entry into the room through the terrace. “Since, the room was on the second floor, he got onto the terrace and climbed down the stairs. The victim shares her room with another but on Sunday night she was staying alone,” the police officer said.
