BHUBANESWAR:The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority on Tuesday accorded in-principle approval to four proposals envisaging investment of around `349 crore.These projects, mainly in pharmaceutical, textiles, downstream industries in metals and minerals sectors, will create employment opportunities for more than 6000 people.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi approved the proposal of a Kolkata-based pharmaceutical company for an intravenous fluids production unit at Ramdaspur in Cuttack district with an investment of `64.95 crore. This will be the first such manufacturing unit in pharmaceutical industry in the State and will create direct and indirect employment for 365 people.
The state-of-the-art Aluminium Park developed at Angul for ancillary and downstream industries has received two investment proposals. A leading Mumbai-based manufacturer of aluminium conductors proposed to set up a greenfield manufacturing unit with a capacity of 40,000 tonne per annum. The project will entail an investment of `56.3 crore with employment potential for 200 persons, said Principal Secretary, Industries Sanjeev Chopra.
The second proposal was from a Rajasthan-based cable company for establishing a conductor producing unit with 30,000 tonne capacity per annum. This proposal involves an investment outlay of `50.30 crore and will create employment opportunity for 130 people.
Investment proposal received from a leading Kerala-based apparel manufacturer was the other project that received the nod of the single window panel. The company would produce export-oriented textile products with an investment of `177 crore at Tata Steel’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Gopalpur in Ganjam district. The project will create employment opportunities for over 5,000 people with a majority of them being women.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of projects approved earlier through the single window system. The review revealed that Odisha has been a leading State in conversion of investment intentions to real project proposals.
Of the total 124 intents expressed in ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave, 76 proposals have been converted to concrete industrial proposals so far. Other projects are in various phases of examination and clearance.
Padhi directed district Collectors and field-level officials concerned to provide all assistance for timely grounding and commissioning of projects in their respective areas.
Chopra said the first ground breaking ceremony was held in November, 2017 for 15 manufacturing units with cumulative investment of `11,690 crore and employment potential of 8187 jobs. The second ground breaking ceremony held in June this year witnessed the inauguration of 19 units with total investment of `2,675 crore and employment potential for 8953 persons.
