The game was reduced to three days instead of four due to the prevalent “heatwave” in England, with the visiting side claiming that the curtailed game will give them an extra day to rest and recover ahead of the Test series. There was some speculation that India wanted to the match cut short due to the green nature of the pitch and the fact that many parts of the outfield lacked grass.
