Small sugar firms up on rising demand

Mumbai, Jul 24 (PTI) Small sugar prices climbed at the Vashi wholesale market here today following rising demand from stockists and bulk consumers on the back of restricted supply from the producing regions.

Elsewhere, medium sugar prices rebounded smartly owing to renewed demand from stockists and retailers.

Small sugar (S-30) prices rose by Rs 44/110 per quintal to Rs 3,286/3,442 from Monday's closing level of Rs 3,242/3,332.

Medium sugar (M-30) prices recovered by Rs 20/36 per quintal to Rs 3,340/3,576 as against Rs 3,320/3,540.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,286/3,442 (Rs 3,242/3,332).
