Midhani bus depot inaugurated

HYDERABAD: In an attempt to better the amenities provided to the passengers of TSRTC buses in the Old City, Midhani bus terminal complex - commuter amenity centre (CAC) has been inaugurated at the Midhani bus depot here on Monday. Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy inaugurated the complex that is constructed with Rs 8.67 crore and is spread across 1.93 acres. It boasts of 182 buses passing through it on a day-to-day basis while rounding 1925 trips.

There are 9 platforms and 12 commercial shops including toilets for even persons with disabilities (PWD’s). The modernisation of the complex is aimed to have increased footfall to the complex besides giving passengers improved facilities of ATM, drinking water facility, and options to renew & apply for bus passes.   

“We have given instructions to the regional manager to improve bus frequencies in the Old City. The RTC will take up a study to know the bus requirements at various places and we will ply additional buses accordingly,” Mahendar Reddy said. The centre is aiding to build bus terminus at an estimated cost of `81crores by giving 35 per cent of funds. The State and RTC is aiding with 15 per cent and 50 per cent, respectively, he added.
