No need for CBI to monitor construction of AIIMS buildings in Madurai, Madras HC says MADURAI: The Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Tuesday observed that there is no need for the CBI to monitor construction of buildings for the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Thoppur here.

Chief Justice Indira Banerjee made the observation while disposing of a petition seeking the court to issue directions to the authorities to expedite the construction process.

The petitioner submitted that the construction work for the recently announced AIIMS was progressing slowly.

“This court could only express the hope that the construction of AIIMS will be completed as early as possible without undue delay,” the Chief Justice said.

The court questioned the logic behind the petitioner’s demand that 35% reservation be given to doctors from the Tamil Nadu Medical Services in the yet-to-be set up hospital.
