The state hit the national headlines multiple times for splits and patch-ups, that proved the adage "there are no permanent friends or enemies, just permanent interests".
The ruling Dravidian major's troubles emboldened many to test the political waters. The two prominent newcomers have been Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan.
