Makes light of CWC resolution on SCS

After creating flutter in political circles saying he would not attend the Parliament session, Anantapur MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.

Mr. Reddy, who is at loggerheads with Anantapur MLA V. Prabhakar Choudary, discussed various issues relating to his constituency.

Later, speaking to reporters, Mr. Diwakar Reddy said provisions of the A.P. Reorganisation Act would not be implemented as long as Narendra Modi was the Prime Minister. The TDP would have to continue its fight until then, he said.

Reacting to the resolution passed in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Diwakar Reddy made light of it. “They could not do it when in power, what will they be able to do now?” he asked.

The MP, however, refused to divulge details of the meeting. He merely quipped, “I spoke to CM. Everything is settled.”

Meets officials

After the nearly 20-minute meeting with the Chief Minister, Mr. Diwakar Reddy met officials of various departments over pending works.

In fact, he was supposed to meet Mr. Naidu at his residence. But, the officials suggested him to visit the Chief Minister at the Secretariat in view of pressing appointments.

Bone of contention

It is pertinent to mention here that a proposal to widen roads in Anantapur created a gap between the MP and the MLA. While Mr. Diwakar Reddy is supporting widening of roads in Gandhi Street area, the local MLA is opposing the same citing that it will affect the livelihood of the people doing business there.

Last Thursday witnessed dramatic political developments in the TDP circles with Mr. Reddy declaring that he would stay away from the monsoon session of Parliament.

He even said that he would take a call on his resignation as MP.

Subsequently, Mr.Naidu convinced him over phone to attend the session asserting that the issue was related to 5 crore people. The Chief Minister also called Mr. Prabhakar Choudary to the city and asked him to bury the hatchet.
