Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), which bagged country’s cleanest city tag two times in a row, imposed a spot fine of Rs 30,000 on a five star hotel for littering in open on Monday. “A team of IMC officials was moving on Bypass when it happened to find heap of garbage. When garbage was searched, valet parking slips of Grand Bhagwati Palace Hotel was found in it,” said health officer Vivek Gangrade.
Gangrade along with his subordinate reached the hotel and asked manager as to why the hotel dumped its solid waste in open. “The manger denied allegations and claimed that the hostel staff gives garbage to IMC vehicle. The manager was taken to the spot and parking slips of his hotel was shown in garbage,” Gangrade said.
On the basis of slips, Corporation levied a fine of Rs 30, 000 on the hotel. Gangrade said that this is not the first time the hotel management was caught dumping garbage in open. “Few months back, the hotel was caught littering in open. At that time a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed on it,” he added. The IMC warned the hostel management of strict action in future it was found dumping garbage in open.
