A Nigerian law graduate, Amasa Firdaus Abdulsalam, has finally been allowed to participate in the call to the bar ceremony, having been previously banned in November 2017 due to her hijab.

Abdulsalam graduated from the University of Ilorin Nigeria with a First Class upper degree.

She was not allowed to join the "call bar programme", the official ceremony in which an individual obtains a license to practice law in the west African nation jurisdiction.

The young woman received overwhelming support from many on social media.

Nigeria is Africa's most populous nation with its current population estimated by the United Nations to be at least 196 million.

Nearly half of the west African nation’s population is Muslim.
