Illegal Bangladeshi immigrants arrested in Bhayandar

Bhayandar: Nine Bangladeshi immigrants including five women landed into the custody of the Navghar police for their illegal stay in the country. The arrest followed after officials from the Special Branch- I of the Mumbai CID received a tip-off in context to the presence of illegal immigrants in Bhayandar.

Based on the information, the CID team along with their counterparts in the Navghar police station swooped down at a construction site in the B P Road area of Bhayandar (east) and rounded up nine suspects.

“After the suspects failed to produce legitimate documents to authorise their stay in the country, they were arrested and booked under the relevant section of the Indian Passport Act and Foreigners Act,” said SPI Ram Bhalsingh while tagging a note of caution to those who employ staff especially domestic helps without verifying credentials. All the illegal immigrants have been sent to judicial custody.
