CBI arrests 8 involved in fake railway recruitments

The CBI has arrested eight persons in a case related to fake recruitment in Indian Railways. The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Agra and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Chomu in Rajasthan, Sonepat in Haryana and Delhi. The agency has registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66D of IT Act, 2000.

The case was registered on the allegations of bogus railway recruitment by the accused using fake website in the name of “Railway Recruitment Control Board”. The accused allegedly set out a detailed recruitment procedure similar to one followed by authorised government recruitment agencies. The accused lured candidates mainly from the states including Rajasthan that have greater number of job seekers in Group C and D categories in Indian Railways and other government organizations.

The unsuspecting victim candidates were instructed to fill application forms and submit their documents related to their qualification, IDs, photographs etc. The aspirants were then directed to visit government hospitals for procuring medical fitness certificates.

Now, these candidates were asked to check their results on the website that served as replica of the original. Bogus training sessions were also organised for selected candidates. A successful candidate was asked to pay amounts ranging from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. They only later realised that they had been in the name of employment offer.

The CBI said searches were conducted at the premises of accused persons at 08 locations in Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Sonepat and Agra which led to recovery of several incriminating documents, mobile phones, Bank cards, seals and cash.

The arrested accused were produced before the CBI court and remanded to police custody up to July 26.
