BMW Motorrad, the premium motorcycle arm of German luxury car maker BMW Group, has announced its foray into sub-500 cc segment in India with the launch of two bikes -- G 310R and G 310 GS- priced up to Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Developed at its R&D centre in Munich, Germany, both the models are manufactured in Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu as part of its long-term partnership with Chennai-based TVS Motor Co. While G 310R is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh, G 310 GS is tagged at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Although it is not officially confirmed, media reports suggest that the company has managed to garner 1,000+ confirmed bookings for both the models ahead of its launch.

When asked about new product launches in India, Raptis said the company would like to introduce its entire range in the country.
The BMW G 310 is powered by a 313 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with fuel injection that is capable of producing a max power of 34 hp at 9,500 rpm while developing a peak torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission that transfers control to the rear wheels via a final chain drive. Both the bikes can achieve a top speed of 143 km/hr.
The all-new BMW G 310 R has been launched in the following metallic colours - Style HP, Cosmic Black and Racing Red.
