Ghaziabad: Four men who had allegedly helped an undertrial murder accused escape from the district court last week were nabbed by Ghaziabad police on Tuesday. The murder accused, Sunny (25), had fled from the court premises, where he had been brought for a hearing, after hoodwinking a constable Satish, under whose watch he was.
The men who were nabbed, identified by the police as Manoj, Kapil, Deepak and Mohit, are from Sunny’s village Bamheta, Ghaziabad. All the four are in their mid-20s. According to police, Manoj is the main accused who orchestrated Sunny’s escape. He has at least nine criminal cases, including murder and attempts to murder, pending against him in different police stations of Noida and Ghaziabad. “Manoj had arrived on a bike to help Sunny escape from the court. The bike has been recovered. We are questioning the four accused men to establish Sunny’s whereabouts,” said Kavi Nagar SHO Pradeep Tripathi.

Following the prisoner’s escape, Ghaziabad police had registered an FIR against Sunny as well as the constable Satish in Sihani Gate police station. Police have also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for Sunny’s arrest. Sunny is accused of committing a murder in Bamheta in June 2011. He had been arrested in 2013 and had been in judicial custody ever since.
