ALLAHABAD: Devotees from other states and countries would be able to get a taste of local delicacies like lassi, chhota
samosa,
kachauri and namkeens during their visit to
Kumbh Mela next year as the tourism department would be organising regular food walks for visitors to the grand religious fair.
Mela officials said that Allahabad's cuisine offers many delicacies of which Hari ka chhota samosa and
namkeen, Nirala's
chaat, Sulaki's kachauris and Loknath lassi are quite famous among food enthusiasts.
The food walk would be designed with an aim to introduce tourists from India and abroad to the local cuisine.
Regional tourism officer (Allahabad) Anupam Srivastava said, "The department will be organising a food walk with an aim to introduce visitors to famous local dishes. On their arrival, most visitors ask about the local cuisine. We wanted to ensure that they do not face any trouble while locating a famous eatery or restaurant."
As majority of famous and local eateries are located in Old City areas like Chowk and Mutthiganj, the tourism department will develop a detailed route chart for visitors.
