The Whitefield police raided a party organised by a group of students from a well-known engineering college at a bar and restaurant, and caught over 40 minors allegedly drinking alcohol on Saturday.
Based on a tip-off, a police team raided the bar and restaurant where over 300 students from various colleges had gathered to celebrate ‘Freshers day’. “The event was organised by a student group from an engineering college in Whitefield. They had invited a DJ to perform, without prior permission from the authorities,” said the police.
One of the organisers, Ajay, said that though they had invited minors to the party, they were given separate bands that would identify them as under-age and thus prevent them from getting alcohol.
The police have arrested the organisers, along with the owner of the bar and restaurant, seized the music system and liquor used in the party.
“We have taken the statements of the minors and the stewards who were serving liquor to them. We have let off the students after a stern warning. We did not subject them to a medical examination since its against the JJ Act,” the police added.
