Two more persons were arrested from Hubballi by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday in the Gauri Lankesh murder case.
The SIT said the two had allegedly provided logistic support and also played a key role in destroying evidence.
This comes shortly after the arrest of 50-year-old Mohan Naik, the seventh accused in the case.
Amit Baddi, 27, and Ganesh Miskin, 27, both from Hubballi, were picked up from their home town on Sunday. The SIT produced Baddi and Miskin on Monday before the 3rd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, which remanded them in 14-day police custody. Sources in the SIT said Baddi and Miskin knew about the pistol and the bike used in the crime, and suspect that they destroyed the evidence after the arrest of Naveen Kumar in February this year.
Baddi was nabbed after the interrogation of Mohan Naik.
Miskin was kept under surveillance, following which the police traced his calls to the alleged mastermind of the Gauri Lankesh murder — Amol Kale. The SIT is now questioning the duo to ascertain their exact role in the case.
