HYDERABAD: Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) T Pulinder Reddy was suspended from service on Monday for his alleged involvement in a land settlement case. He had reportedly attempted to influence the police department in favour of his daughter Aishwarya Reddy.
The officer’s daughter had disputes with her partner Qaizar Bin Abu Bakr regarding a land worth Rs 1 crore in the Muthanga locality in Sangareddy district. Abu Bakr had lodged a complaint at the Raidurgam police station in connection with the issue.
However, Reddy reportedly influenced the department to turn the table in favour of his daughter. As a result, Abu Bakr was allegedly harassed by police mentally and physically. The Raidurgam police had previously registered criminal cases against four policemen including Reddy under charges of threatening, extortion, kidnap and criminal trespass into private land.
A subsequent internal enquiry had led to more accusations against the senior officer. A comprehensive report of the probe has been submitted to Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat and forwarded to the State government. In the suspension order, the Home Department officials have stated that Pulinder Reddy exhibited gross misconduct with his actions, including disobeying the instructions of superior officers, threatening subordinate staff and getting involved in criminal cases.
“Pulinder Reddy consistently avoids duties assigned by a superior officer. He has directly conducted a press meet against his superior causing immense embarrassment and irreparable damage to the police department’s image,’’ as stated in the suspension order.
