Dheeraj to debut for Kerala Blasters FC

kochi: Young goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem will debut for Kerala Blasters as the ISL side takes on A-League's Melbourne City FC in the opening match of the LaLiga World tournament here on Tuesday. Dheeraj, who was one of the standout performers for the India U-17s at the FIFA U-17 World Cup last year, had attended trials outside India. After a trial stint at Scottish club Motherwell FC, Dheeraj trained with English Premier Club Bournemouth before joining Kerala Blasters. The three-team pre-season tournament also features Spanish club Girona FC who will play their first game on Friday against Melbourne City FC. After finishing sixth in the 2017-18 season of Indian Super League, Kerala Blasters FC would use this opportunity to regroup their team ahead of their fifth season. "We have a squad that is hungry and determined to perform at their best against two very high-quality opposition. The LaLiga World gives us an exposure to analyse ourselves against international opponents who have been seasoned performers in their respective leagues," said Blasters head coach David James.

 Gameiro rejoins training amid rumors

Majadahonda: Kevin Gameiro joined Atletico Madrid's first team practice session here on Monday after training separately for two days. Gameiro trained with the rest of his teammates in the first of two Monday's training sessions, led by head coach Diego Pablo Simeone. The French striker had been left out amid Spanish media reports of a potential transfer to La Liga rivals Valencia. The second session to be held later on Monday was expected to feature new goalkeeper Antonio Adan, who arrived at Atletico from Real Betis on July 10, and who was due to be presented to supporters on Monday evening at the team's stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico was gearing up for an upcoming pre-season match at the International Champions Cup tournament against Arsenal on Thursday at the Singapore National Stadium.

FC Pune City sign striker Robin Singh

pune: Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Pune City on Monday signed experienced India international Robin Singh to strengthen their front line for the 2018-19 season. The 28-year-old striker, who plied his trade for ATK last season, has made 30 appearances in the national team's colour and will now reunite with his former Delhi Dynamos teammate Marcelinho, a media release said on Monday. FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said the signing will add firepower to the team's frontline. "Robin is a proven performer and his dominating aerial prowess and robust presence upfront will add more power to our frontline," Modwel said. Robin made his India debut in 2012. "The squad is very talented with a great balance of both youth and experience with the whole club having a winning mentality wanting to achieve more everyday on and off the pitch," the striker said.
