Lamborghini confirms Aventador SVJ in new trailer
Track-focused supercar tipped to set new Nurburgring lap record

The Aventador SVJ is expected to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, in October
Following months of spy shots and rumours, Lamborghini has finally confirmed that a hardcore Aventador Superveloce Jota (SVJ) is in the works.
A video posted on the Italian brand’s YouTube channel shows an Aventador SVJ covered in a camouflage wrap being put through its paces around the 12.9-mile Nurburgring racing circuit in Germany.
The short clip doesn’t offer details such as a price or release date for the new car, but Lamborghini claims the Aventador SVJ has been “designed to have the best weight-to-power” ratio.
The Jota name is derived from the company’s first track-focused supercar, the Miura P400 Jota from 1970, and was later used on the Aventador J Concept that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012.
The upcoming model’s naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine is tipped to produce somewhere in the region of 730bhp and 509lb-ft of torque, according to Evo.
The magazine also expects the SVJ to weight around 50kg less than the standard Aventador, which offers 456bhp per tonne.
Meanwhile, the aerodynamics of the new car have been “overhauled to improve performance overall”, adds the Daily Express. The SVJ gets a new rear wing, a large diffuser that helps generate downforce at high speeds, and an intricate front splitter to improve the car’s handling.
The upgraded engine and aerodynamics should put Lamborghini in a prime position to take the production car lap record at the Nurburgring, the newspaper says.
Porsche currently holds the fastest time, at six minutes and 47.3 seconds, set last September by the company’s test driver Lars Kern in the new 911 GT2 RS.
Lamborghini is tipped to unveil the Aventador SVJ in production form at the Paris Motor Show, which runs from 4 to 14 October, says US-based car news site Autoblog.
