Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would inaugurate the much-awaited Gurupriya bridge, which will serve as a lifeline for the people in the cutoff areas of Malkangiri district, on July 26, said BJD district president and MLA Manas Madakami on Monday.

The 910-meter bridge was earlier scheduled to be inaugurated on July 18; however, it was postponed due to adverse weather. The bridge will connect as many as 151 villages with around 30,000 people in the cutoff region.

Patnaik would also inaugurate a 300-bed District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on the day. Preparations for the events are in full swing and police have made adequate security arrangements for the CM’s visit.

However, the Malkangiri Congress unit has called for a Chitrakonda Bandh in the district on the day to oppose the CM’s visit.
