Parivartan Trust spearheads the protest

Aditya Institute of Technology and Management (AITAM) professor and Partivartan Trust president Chintada Ravikumar on Monday held an agitation at Amudalavalasa and asked the government to take immediate action on the influential people involved in illegal sand mining in Purushottampuram.

As many as 53 people had a miraculous escape in Purushottampuram when they were rescued from the river which received heavy inflows a couple of days ago.

High-level inquiry

The president alleged that the police department had put cases on innocent workers and drivers while ignoring action on the lorry owners, earth movers, who were responsible for transporting sand during the night.

He sought a high-level inquiry into the incident sincepolitical parties were looting the district’s natural resources.

The Trust members raised slogans and placards, highlighting the crores worth of illegal mining in the district.
