Cong. president to participate in Hyderabad, R.R. Dists.

Congress party president Rahul Gandhi will visit Telangana next month to participate in the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) bus yatra, which is likely to begin in the first week of August.

According to TPCC president N. Uttam Kumr Reddy, Mr. Rahul is likely to address a series of street-corner meetings as part of the yatra in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts. The date and venues are likely to be finalised in the next few days.

In three phases of the bus yatra so far, the TPCC president along with other leaders covered 40 Assembly constituencies. The yatra was given a break in June in view of Ramzan. The decision to resume the yatra was taken at Mr. Reddy’s meeting with AICC secretaries held in New Delhi on Monday to review the party affairs and activities in the State.

After attending the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting Mr. Reddy had an extensive interaction with AICC Telangana in-charge R.C. Khuntia. Later, he participated in a review meeting with AICC secretaries N.S. Bose Raju, Saleem Ahmed and Srinivasan Krishnan, who have been assigned the task of supervising party activities in Parliamentary constituencies.

In a review meeting on Shakti programme, AICC data analytics head Praveen Chakravorthy complimented Mr. Reddy on the TPCC being among the top three States with highest number of registrations. While Rajasthan has registered 3.5 lakh workers on Shakti App, Chattisgarh got 95,000 registrations and with 58,000 registrations Telangana is in the third position.

Addressing a press conference later at the AICC headquarters, Mr. Reddy said the party had plans to release the manifesto and also make announcement of candidates early. He reasoned that the delay in the release of party’s manifesto and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s lucrative promises were the main causes for party’s loss in 2014 elections.

Stating that he was holding teleconference with all mandal presidents on a regular basis, the TPCC president said it would soon be extended to presidents of over 31,600 polling booths.

“It is a unique technology which connects over 30,000 people at once and uses artificial intelligence for assessment”, he said adding it would be for the first time in the country that a PCC president would have direct interaction with booth level presidents.
