The former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has urged Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to immediately present a White Paper on allocations made to North Karnataka under various governments in the State. Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Shettar said that there was no meaning in the Chief Minister saying that he was ready for an open debate on the issue of injustice to North Karnataka and allocations to the region. “Let him first give details about the allocations made in the budget and also about the funds sanctioned to various departments,” he said.
Mr. Shettar said that among the 50 new taluks announced, 38 were in North Karnataka and Mr. Kumaraswamy should release at least ₹ 5 crore for each one of them.
On the efforts towards formation of a third front, he said that there were differences within the third front and they would not be able to declare Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate. “Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s dream to become Prime Minister will remain a dream. His [the Prime Minister’s] development works will help Narendra Modi get re-elected,” he said.
