JAIPUR: A love story which started with a phone call paved the way for the conspiracy and execution of the
Shipra Path robbery. This was claimed by Jaipur police on Monday after arresting three persons including a woman who was the maid at victim’s family and two others. In a late night development police have also detained two more persons involved in the robbery from New Delhi.
Technical surveillance including phone details of the stolen phone of Krishna Kumar Gupta’s family, CCTV footage of the toll plazas which were passed by the culprits while fleeing in the victim’s car also proved handy in solving the case in just some days after the incident. The robbers after fleeing had also withdrawn Rs 12,000 in three instalments from the ATM card of the Gupta family. “The 4-digit pin of ATM had also been written on the back of it by the Gupta family helped the robbers in withdrawing more money. This was also helpful for us in tracking their movement,” said Vikas Pathak, deputy commissioner of police (south).
“It all started four months ago when the sister of Parveen Khatun (maid of Gupta family) alias Priya Sahu had sold a mobile phone to one person identified as Nadeem in Ahmedabad. There were some contact numbers left in the phone memory out of which one number was saved as Priya. Nadeem started calling her just like that. Initially the woman was reluctant in having a chat with the stranger. After some days they started talking to each other very frequently,” said a senior officer of Jaipur (south).
After some time Nadeem who had criminal antecedents in Uttar Pradesh came to Jaipur and met Parveen.
When contacted, Vikas Pathak, deputy commissioner of police (south) said, “It is found in the investigation that Nadeem was in touch with Parveen Khatun through a phone call. There are records of their frequent calling. Prior to the robbery Nadeem had gone to Gupta’s house when the woman who is a divorcee introduced him as her husband to the Gupta family.”
“Nadeem and Parveen have emerged as the kingpins in the conspiracy and execution of robbery. It was found that Nadeem had promised to marry the woman after the success of the robbery,” said a senior officer.
