NEW DELHI: The family members of Anissia Batra, the flight attendant who allegedly jumped to her death on July 13, have released photographs of alleged injuries inflicted by her husband, Mayank Singhvi, during a scuffle days before her death. Her brother, Karan Batra, said the photographs have also been given to police.

In the photographs, one of Anissia’s arms has red marks, probably caused after being grabbed tightly. Another photo shows two bruises that could have been caused after being hit with something. Family members said she had sent these photos to a friend seeking help. Police said they will match the photographs with the injuries on her body to verify the claims.

Anissia’s in-laws, who were questioned on Monday, were also asked about the photographs. They will be questioned again later this week over the allegations of her being locked up.

Her friends have appealed to her colleagues and other friends to forward them any messages she had sent seeking help after being allegedly harassed. These would be put up as evidence. The text messages sent by Anissia to a friend a day before the incident are also being used as evidence by police. Her friend will also be called for questioning.

The victim’s family had written to police seeking protection for Anissia after she had shown them the bruises on her body caused by the alleged assault by Mayank. The family members had alleged that the occasional arguments turned into assaults after she started consulting a lawyer for divorce and had decided to move out of the house.

In one of the messages sent by Anissia to a friend, she claimed that she was locked up in a room while Mayank was sitting guard outside. Police had registered a case of dowry death against him based on these messages and photographs.
