Indore: Morning rains surprise people, temperature drops by 6 degrees celsius


Indore: Morning showers of Monday gave much-needed relief to Indoreans. The rains which continued throughout the day pulled down the temperature by six notches and also ended the long dry spell in the city. The intermittent rains also caused heavy traffic congestion as commuters moved out on roads at the same time during the rain break. The slow movement of vehicles made it difficult for people to reach their destination on time.

Meanwhile, Regional Meteorological Department officials have issued alert for heavy rains in 23 districts of eastern part of the state. However, no alert was issued for Indore and the dept said that the city would witness moderate rains in next couple of days.

“Most parts of the city witnessed rains in the wee hours of Monday. Total rainfall was recorded as 7.4 mm till 8.30 PM with this the total rainfall of the season reached 334.9 mm. The maximum temperature in will hover around 27 degrees Celsius and the wind pattern is also favorable for rains,” the weatherman said.


The relative humidity was 97 per cent in the morning and evening. The maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius which was six degrees Celsius below the normal while the minimum temperature was recorded at 22.1 degrees Celsius, one degree below the normal.
